Our Talbot Street and Triumph House student apartments are only a short walk away from Nottingham city centre, and their shopping connections are incredible. From supermarkets and newsagents to glamorous global designer brands, anything can be found in the shops along the high street.
The Old Market Square combines history and high street in the most beautiful way, with astonishing architecture, bursting with bargains. A short distance away is the Intu Victoria Centre, a shopping mall which contains around 120 different stores including big name fashion brands and retailers, cafés, and restaurants as well as a health and fitness centre.
Alternatively, traditional markets are thriving in Nottingham and shoppers can enjoy an intimate market experience. Victoria Market is inside the Intu shopping centre, where its vendors sell a range of products including fresh fruit and vegetables, locally raised meat, and fish, as well as homeware and haberdashery items.

There are two major food events in the Nottingham calendar, including the Nottingham Food and Drink Festival attracting thousands of visitors each year to its stalls. The annual Sausage and Cider Festival is also popular as guests enjoy live music and the finest sausages and cider the world has to offer.
Nottingham attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year due to its long and fascinating history, leisure activities and retail experiences. From guided tours on Robin Hood, to the oldest pub in England and Nottingham Castle, with its towering fortress of 130 feet high cliffs, designed by William the Conqueror.
Immerse yourself in underground history by visiting the city’s network of man-made caves, darkly dormant underneath the heart of the bustling city. Nottingham is also home to lots of independent galleries that showcase and celebrate local talent in art, sculpture, and design.
Trent Bridge Cricket Ground is infamous in Nottingham and has a deep history within the world of cricket. During game season regular national and international matches are still held at Trent Bridge, and tickets can be purchased at a reasonable price. Private tours of the ground can also be arranged.
Escaping to nature is easy from the city centre due to its award-winning public transport system. Wollaton Park, is home to Wollaton Hall as well as gorgeous wild red deer and fallows. This picturesque, peaceful location transforms a few times a year to host some of Nottingham’s largest events. The Attenborough Nature Reserve is another beautiful spot, popular with hikers and bird watchers.
The city centre is also home to gyms, escape rooms, bowling alleys, cinemas, and indoor crazy golf, which are perfect activities to let off some steam in friendly competition on a school night!
Nottingham Carnival is an annual celebration of all things Nottingham and is popular with residents and visitors alike. It honours Nottingham’s diverse population and cultures, showcases the city’s musical and entertainment talents, and is chock full of rides, funfair style games and food and drink stalls.
Winter Wonderland is another major event in Nottingham, a magically immersive Christmas market and festival that runs from December to January in the city centre. The streets are full of mouth-watering aromas including mulled wines and sizzling German sausages and lined with festive decorations and gift stalls, fairground rides and even an ice rink.
Nottingham is also well known for its extravagant Chinese New Year celebrations, with colourful and vibrant displays and festivities. The city showcases Kung Fu skills, dragon dances, bamboo flute music and traditional dances at various locations during the festivities. With authentic Asian cuisine available to purchase on street stalls alongside handmade traditionally crafted items.
The historical and religious festival Vaisakhi – which celebrates the solar new year – is also widely celebrated in Nottingham with the Sikh tradition of Nagar Kirtans (or Neighbourhood Kirtans) taking place for the last thirty years, with music, dancing, and traditional delicacies. Other religious events you won’t want to miss in Nottingham include Diwali and Eid.
