Each year Nottingham is home to a variety of wonderful events, ranging from live music acts to culture festivals and everything in between. As a student living in the city you may find yourself with a fair bit of spare time and visiting these events can be a great way to keep yourself occupied.
We’ve put together this list of 6 exciting events that are taking place in and around the city throughout the rest of 2018, to bring a bit more excitement to the rest of your year! There’s a huge variety of things to do, so we’re sure you’ll find an event that interests you!
The D.H Lawrence Festival of Culture
Celebrating the life of the famous author D.H Lawrence, this festival of culture will be heading to town on the 15th September. The D.H Lawrence festival of culture hosts open days with live music acts, tranquil walking trails and exhibitions – making this a great place to visit for a relaxed afternoon alone, with friends or a partner.
The D.H Lawrence Festival of Culture takes place around Eastwood – accessible from Nottingham by train or bus – on Saturday 15th September.
Cricket County Championships
If you’re a fan of cricket you’ll be pleased to hear that the cricket country championships are taking place at Trent Bridge stadium towards the end of September. The stadium will see Nottingham play against Somerset for Division One of the Specsavers county championships, so if you like spectator sports a trip down is highly recommended!
The Notts v Somerset cricket championship match will take place on the 24th September, at Trent Bridge stadium. Tickets are available online!
Robin Hood Beer & Cider Festival
The Robin Hood Beer & Cider Festival is a three day event showcasing a huge collection of real craft ales and beers from around the UK. At the Robin Hood Beer & Cider festival you’ll find over 1000 craft beers and ales, and over 300 different ciders, being sold by over a dozen brilliant brewery bars. If you’re a fan of beer or cider, this taster festival makes for a great day out. Just make sure you drink responsibly!
You’ll want to be at Nottingham’s Motor point arena between the 17th – 20th October if you don’t want to miss this one!
Hockley hustle
Hockley Hustle is a live music event that happens annually in Hockley, and it gets bigger and better every year! On Sunday 28th October, the streets and venues of Hockley will be taken over by a host of live music acts, performers, art and tasty street food to create a memorable and exciting experience for all. Over 30 venues throughout Nottingham’s Creative Quarter will see more than 300 acts perform over the course of the event, and to top it all off – the Hockley hustle is raising money for a collection of local charities.
Take a trip down to Nottingham’s Creative Quarter on the 28th October to join in on the fun.
Sky Bet League Two Football
Are you a fan of football? Notts County began the 2018-19 Sky Bet League Two football games at the start of August, and games are going to be held at Meadow Lane stadium in Nottingham numerous times throughout the rest of the year. The next game you can go and watch is a match between Notts County & Crew Alexandra on Saturday 29th September, so make sure you don’t miss it!
Football matches will then continue to be hosted at Meadow Lane throughout the rest of the year, leaving you with plenty of opportunity to go and watch a game.
Bonfire Night On The Forest
Brighten up your bonfire night by visiting Nottingham’s biggest and best free fireworks display! On Monday 5th November 2018, the Forest Recreation Ground will be packed full of fairground rides and delicious food stalls – centred around a roaring bonfire, and a huge display of fireworks will take place. You won’t want to miss out on this!
