Gathering feedback from over 70,000 students worldwide, the survey sheds light on key attributes that define exceptional student housing.

Student accommodation statistics

Study Inn Group’s high specification product and premium hospitality service have paved the way for it to reach a +27 net promoter score on the latest Global Student Living Index, far outperforming the +12 net promoter score benchmark for UK private halls. Similarly, it achieved 89% positive rating for ‘Accommodation condition and quality’ compared to the 71% benchmark for UK private halls.

The group has focused on student wellbeing and complete student experience since its inception in 2009, providing guests with fully equipped gyms and yoga studios, as well as state-of-the-art wellness spas with saunas, steam rooms and hot beds – the first ever seen in the sector. 74% of Study Inn resident students said their accommodation had a positive impact on their wellbeing, 10% points higher than all benchmarks. Similarly, availability of communal space and sports facilities scored 80% and 75% respectively, both outperforming all benchmarks by more than 10% points.

Based on its impressive ratings, Study Inn has earned a coveted spot as a finalist in the “Best Small Operator UK & Ireland” category for the esteemed Global Student Living Awards 2023. Additionally, the group has been awarded with the Global Student Living Gold Certification for the UK region. Certification is based on meeting set thresholds within each of the 7 metrics that make up the GSL Index Score (Condition & Quality, Bedroom, Value for Money, Care & Support, Recycling & Environmental Facilities, Overall Management and Internet). To attain certification, all seven metrics must surpass the predetermined threshold. It is only when an entity successfully fulfils these criteria across all metrics that a certification level us awarded.

Commenting on the survey results, Matt Shakespeare, Study Inn’s Managing Director of Operations said: “We are thrilled by the exceptional outcomes of our portfolio in the latest survey and feel honoured to have been awarded Gold certification and shortlisted for such a prestigious award. The Global Student Living Awards hold immense value as they solely rely on direct student feedback, without any written nominations or expert judges. It is a testament to the dedication and passion of our teams at our centres who take immense pride in delivering a service like no other and an outstanding product to our guests. Our scores reflect the hard work and commitment of our employees, who bring our offerings to life. While having a superior product is important, it is truly our people who make the difference, and we take pride in each and every one of our team members. Moving forward, we remain focused on expanding our portfolio properties with a clear objective of providing the ultimate student experience for our valued residents.
