For young people, in particular, uncertainty abounds. With normal A-level examinations having been unable to take place, your grades will be awarded according to a system that has never been seen before.
This has left lots of teenagers feeling uncertain about their futures. While you’ll still be hoping to attend university and resume normal studying come September, you’re likely to feel worried as to what form your academic experience will take moving forward.
Here’s what you need to know.
How universities will deliver their teaching from September
While it’s impossible to say exactly what each individual’s experience will look like, what we do know is that most universities are now confident that teaching will be able to resume from September.
Though coronavirus and its ongoing impact will not disappear overnight, institutions expect to be welcoming their students back in time for the next academic year. In order to facilitate this, most are in the process of examining their options, in order to enable safe and socially distanced learning to take place.
Every university is approaching this slightly differently, but the message is the same across the board: that all institutions aim to start the new academic year on time or with only a minor delay (this looks likely to be one to two weeks at most).
In order to accommodate this, most universities are looking to offer ‘blended learning’ i.e. a mixture of online and face-to-face classes for at least the first semester. This will ensure that students enjoy a fully rounded educational experience and that they have access to all of the materials and hands-on teaching necessary to successfully acquire the skills and knowledge they need.
