Loughborough University is a UK top 10 University with excellence in teaching, research and sport. Most recently, £17 million was invested into world class science and engineering facilities for Loughborough University students to use.
The 2022 Commonwealth Games saw athletes from Loughborough amass a record haul of 47 medals – 14 gold, 17 silver, and 16 bronze. With some incredible alumni including famous athletes and seven time Marathon Winner Paula Radcliffe, politician Tobias Ellwood, sociologist Rosalind Gill and mathematician Dr Nira Chamberlain.
The campus lies in serene surroundings, and is a massive 44 acres (that’s 7,000 tennis courts!). In 2015, Loughborough University opened a second campus in Stratford, formerly the site of the broadcast centre at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, built for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Every Thursday and Saturday, between 8am to 4pm, the pedestrianised Loughborough Market – which has been part of the town’s rich history for almost 800 years – is open to the public. Loughborough Town Hall also plays host to comedians, live music performances, art exhibitions and musicals throughout the year. Catching a show at the Town Hall is a tradition in Loughborough and it is a fantastic way to spend an evening out with friends, family or with a loved one.
Loughborough has everything to offer in the way of food, from catching a bite to eat in a high street fast food chain, to dining out in an independent family run restaurant, whose recipes have been handed down through generations.
There are lots of typical little British cafes scattered all over Loughborough that offer traditional dishes such as Shepard’s Pie and Full English Breakfasts. Takeaways are also not hard to find, with lots of different cuisines to choose from. Balancing university alongside social activities is a struggle most students face, however, there are some great adventures to have in Loughborough and most of them are within walking distance from the Study Inn site.

Visiting Manor Farm Park and Woodlands is a feel-good activity, with both indoor and outdoor animals that you can hand feed as well as their woodland nature trail and café bistro, it makes a great day out and that brings you closer to Mother Nature.
Each year, Loughborough plays host to some unmissable events, from comedy and live music to food & drinks festivals. For a small town, its events schedule is mighty and there is something for everyone.
Every February, the Leicester Comedy Festival showcases hundreds of comedians from all over the world across 90 different locations in Leicester and Loughborough. Some shows even opt for a ‘pay what you laughed’ system.
Glastonbudget is a well-known British music festival often dubbed ‘The World’s Biggest and Best Tribute Music Festival’ held every Summer. Its humorous tone makes it a popular place to let off some steam, especially after exams.
