The Old Market Square combines history and high street in the most beautiful way, with astonishing architecture, bursting with bargains. A short distance away is the Intu Victoria Centre, a shopping mall which contains around 120 different stores including big name fashion brands and retailers, cafés, and restaurants as well as a health and fitness centre.
Nottingham is an extremely popular destination because of its incredible nightlife, from vivacious, vibrant nightclubs clubs to classy cocktail lounges and local, village style pubs, hosting one of the most fun student nights out in the country.
If you’re looking for a quiet night out, why not visit one of the nationally recognised comedy clubs, such as the Nottingham Playhouse? Guarantee yourself a good time and enjoy an introduction to some of the newest up and coming comedians!
Budding musicians and music lovers often find themselves at Rock City for the evening, where local independent artists are welcomed to the stage to showcase their talents in music or poetry. Alternatively, visit the Theatre Royal for critically acclaimed stage plays and international artists.
Talbot Street is conveniently located in Nottingham’s city-centre. This location makes eating out a dream, with cheap eats such as local community style cafés, independent restaurants, and takeaways within walking distance – you’ll never go hungry!
Nottingham city centre has an extremely wide variety of cuisines available within a small radius. Traditional Tapas bars and community cafés line the streets, permeated between well-established restaurant chains such as Frankie and Bennys, Pizza Express and YO! Sushi. Lace Market is another place for a bite to eat, with modern bars, bistros and restaurants with distinct décor, atmosphere, cuisine, and service styles.
Food festivals are also a big part of the Nottingham food scene. There are two major food events in the Nottingham calendar, including the Nottingham Food and Drink Festival attracting thousands of visitors each year to its stalls. The annual Sausage and Cider Festival is also popular as guests enjoy live music and the finest sausages and cider the world has to offer.
From guided tours on Robin Hood, to the oldest pub in England and Nottingham Castle, with its towering fortress of 130 feet high cliffs, designed by William the Conqueror.
Trent Bridge Cricket Ground is infamous in Nottingham and has a deep history within the world of cricket. During game season regular national and international matches are still held at Trent Bridge, and tickets can be purchased at a reasonable price. Private tours of the ground can also be arranged.
Escaping to nature is easy from the city centre due to its award-winning public transport system. Wollaton Park, is home to Wollaton Hall as well as gorgeous wild red deer and fallows. This picturesque, peaceful location transforms a few times a year to host some of Nottingham’s largest events. The Attenborough Nature Reserve is another beautiful spot, popular with hikers and bird watchers.

Nottingham Carnival is an annual celebration of all things Nottingham and is popular with residents and visitors alike. It honours Nottingham’s diverse population and cultures, showcases the city’s musical and entertainment talents, and is chock full of rides, funfair style games and food and drink stalls.
The historical and religious festival Vaisakhi – which celebrates the solar new year – is also widely celebrated in Nottingham with the Sikh tradition of Nagar Kirtans (or Neighbourhood Kirtans) taking place for the last thirty years, with music, dancing, and traditional delicacies. Other religious events you won’t want to miss in Nottingham include Diwali and Eid.
